DESCRIPTION:July 17-20, 2023\nOld Testament\nMaribeth Howell, OP\nEncountering the Psalms\nEvenings 7:00-9:00 p.m.\nDuring our time together, we will explore the wonder of our ancestral prayers, the Psalms. While we will examine some of the various “types” of Psalms (praise, lament, thanksgiving, etc.), we will also spend time reflecting on how these prayers of our ancestors in faith continue to speak to the faithful today.\nMaribeth Howell is a Dominican Sister of Adrian, Michigan. She has degrees from Wayne State University (BS), St. Paul University in Ottawa (STB & STL) and Leuven, Belgium (PhD &STD). While the Psalms are her passion, Maribeth has taught, written, given workshops and retreats on various Biblical topics.\nNew Testament\nRonald Witherup, PSS\nPaul the Pastor: Rediscovering a Neglected Theme\nMornings 9:30-11:30 p.m.\nSaint Paul might well be called the Church’s “first theologian”. The profound teaching in his letters has shaped Christian theology through the ages and provided the key foundation of many essential theological teachings. Yet what has often been overlooked is how he developed his theological insights through being a pastor to the communities he founded and served. This workshop will show how critical is the interrelationship between Paul’s theology and his pastoral practice, which can provide a model for pastoral ministry today.\nRonald Witherup is a well-known Biblical scholar, with numerous books and articles on the New Testament.
