SUMMARY:Summer Bible Institute 2020
DESCRIPTION:As with all of us, in many ways and parts of our lives, changes and adjustments have had to be made. At the Oratory Center for Spirituality that has meant the cancellation of many programs, including our annual Summer Bible Institute – a difficult decision, indeed! This has been a special part of so many of our lives … and it seemed natural, perhaps even necessary, to find some way to fill that gap. In our current age of technology and on-line learning, something along those lines seemed in order. So … here is what we have to offer:\nBetween the dates of July 12th and 19th, the Oratory website will contain links to the following programs:\nThe Synoptic Gospels Set Free: Preaching without Anti-Judaism – Daniel Harrington, S.J.\nThis half-hour talk is a look at his book of the same title. Many of you who attended his SBI presentations over the years will enjoy once again the opportunity to learn from this great teacher and Scripture scholar. This talk was recorded at Boston College in 2009.\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It2qcV-Otj4&t=14s\nReading Scripture through the Eyes of Paul – Ronald Witherup, PSS\nAnother great Scripture scholar and past SBI speaker presents an hour-long talk on St. Paul’s use of the Old Testament in his writings. This program was presented in 2017 at the Oblate School of Theology.\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzwFTopNF7M\nBuilding on the Word – Fr. George Smiga\nTo round off our selection of offerings we “welcome back” another previous SBI speaker with this series of six brief (10-15 minute) reflections based on a Scriptural\ntheme.\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9kqjmdoutg\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMm2zjBBkIE\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd-w2_fnLsE\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Y0-7YiMz8\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u20fHO5oTE0\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb-vvwrf9h8\nWhile nothing can totally replace our yearly gathering around the Word, we hope you will take advantage of these offerings. And, since the future is still a bit uncertain, please continue to check the website for other programs, including changes and additions to our annual brochure, which will soon be available. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at the above email address. Please let me know if you were able to take advantage of this offering and any thoughts on how to improve it. We look forward to staying connected and exploring new ways to do that around our love and study of Scripture.\nJudy Gritzmacher\nOratory Center for Spirituality\n
