Practicing Resurrection
Living the Paschal Mystery
Guest Presenter: Dr. Jay Cormier
In the midst of the “crucifixions” in our world and the many “deaths” we experience in our everyday lives, how do we make “resurrection” more than an article of faith but a practice, a living manifestation of our belief and hope in God’s Easter promise? Our time together will consider signs of “resurrection” around us, stories of those who have been the means of resurrection in their communities, and how we can change our own perspective in order to become “witnesses of the Resurrection” that, in Baptism, Christ calls us to become.
Jay Cormier is a Deacon for the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire and teaches homiletics at Pope Saint John XXIII National Seminary and humanities and communications at Saint Anselm College. He also writes and edits Connections, a monthly newsletter of ideas, images and resources for homilists and teachers. He has graduate degrees in communications and theology. The author of several books and a contributor to Give Us This Day and other Catholic periodicals, he also facilitates retreats and workshops around the country.
The Newman Lecture will be available in person and online. When registering, please indicate the chosen option. For those attending in person, the day will include Eucharist and a light lunch.
