On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Center for Spirituality and St. Mary Catholic Church co-sponsored a talk by Dr. Shannen Dee Williams entitled America’s Real Sister Act: The Hidden History of Black Catholic Nuns in the United States. Based in part on her recent book, Subversive Habits: Black Catholic Nuns in the Long African American Struggle (Duke University Press, 2022), she addressed an engaged and enthusiastic audience, both in person and online.
