I Am Because You Are I AM
Sr. Colleen Gibson, SSJ
In an age where division runs rampant and hope can feel in short supply, the question Jesus asked his first disciples reverberates in our lives: Who do you say that I am? How we answer this question has implications not only for our relationship with God but for our relationship with ourselves and others.
Exploring the “I am” statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John in dialogue with narrative storytelling and poetic musings, Sr. Colleen Gibson invites us to reflect deeply on our identity in relationship with God and the invitation to greater union that comes when we trace the story of our lives to uncover who we are and whose we are in relationship with the great I AM.
Colleen Gibson is a Sister of St. Joseph and serves as Coordinator of Pastoral Care at St. John-St. Paul Catholic Collaborative in Wellesley, MA. Her award-winning writing has appeared in Give Us This Day, America, NCR, Commonweal and Global Sisters Report. She is a co-host of the podcast, Beyond the Habit. (beyondthehabitipod.com)
