The Book of Genesis and the Spiritual Formation of God’s People
We will approach the Book of Genesis as a formation handbook to learn from the spiritual journey and development of our fathers and mothers in faith. Genesis helps us to understand our beginnings in goodness and blessing, which, however, is disrupted by sin, causing a tension that can be seen in the stories and spiritual journeys of Noah, Abraham, Hagar, Rebekah, Jacob and Joseph. We will conclude in Egypt with an ever- deepening bond between God and Israel.
Garrett Galvin is President/Rector of the Franciscan School of Theology in California, where he has also taught since 2009. He earned degrees from Catholic University of America (Ph.D., M.A.) and Graduate Theological Union (M.A.) His writings include several books and articles on Old Testament topics.

The Gospel of John: Text, Context and Contemporary Summons
The Gospel of John is the outlier of the four Gospels. The so-called Fourth Evangelist goes his own way and tells a distinctive story of the Good News of what God has done through Jesus Christ. As such, this narrative has often been diminished or even dismissed in Christian traditions. Our task will be to let John have his full voice, both inspired in his unique perspective and inspirational in the distinctive mission to which he summons disciples of all time.
Sherri Brown is Professor of New Testament in the Department of Theology at Creighton University. She earned degrees from the Catholic University of America (Ph.D.), Columbia University (M.S.), Yale University (M.Div.) and Washington and Lee University (B.A.). She has written, co-written, or edited seven books and numerous articles on Johannine Literature and other aspects of the New Testament.

Tuition:
$100 per course (OT or NT) * $175/both courses * $25/individual session
In-person participants may pay on arrival by check or cash or ahead of time by credit card. This year’s Summer Bible Institute will be available in person and on-line. When registering, please indicate the chosen option. Please indicate OT, NT or Both, whichever way you register.
Room & Board:
$50/night * Meals included: Monday breakfast – Friday breakfast
